Our mission is to celebrate and honor families!
Family Hall Of Fame®
has appeared in
newspaper, radio and television news reports a number of
times through the years in recognition of our work
promoting positive parenting
within communities and families.
In
an interview on WTGL TV-52
which was shown several times
on June 10th and June 15th Dr. James
Reeher appeared on the show “Today’s Family.” The host
Ken Mikesell and hostess Rita Christie discussed the work
of Father’s
Hall Of Fame. Our work of distributing parenting
guidelines, promotion of literacy through work with the
public and private school systems, and the basic premise
behind starting our Internet virtual museum for the
recognition of fathers were all topics of discussion. Our
future plans for our museum to function as a genealogical
center where a family’s legacy could be displayed was also
touched upon in the interview.
Several of the winning stories submitted to Father’s Hall
of Fame were shared during the interview and viewers were
invited to reflect upon the positive experiences they
shared with their parents. We focused on the need to say,
“I love you,” to those near to you, while they are still
with you! Father’s Day is a great day to do just that
with your Dad.
In
several weekly radio interviews on Tampa Bays WWBA Radio,
the host of “The Athlete’s Edge” Mr. Hal Jeffery
and Dr. Reeher discussed some of the
pitfalls and blessings of parenting. The influences
parents have in the development of a winning athlete also
became a lively topic of discussion on the show. The
various athletic Halls of Fame were discussed and then
compared with the function of
Father’s
Hall of Fame.® Listeners were encouraged to remember
their father on Father’s Day and to participate in our
writing contest!
Father’s
Hall of Fame® also was recognized for our work with
churches and Scouting in the Tampa Bay Area.
Information
on Father’s
Hall of Fame® appeared in
Discovery,
central Florida’s Christian
voice, as a part of their special Father’s Day issue.
Their sister radio station, WTLN AM 950 also broadcast
information suggesting us as a great Father’s Day Website.
We
announced the
“Father of
the Year” just prior to Father’s Day.
We had a draw for Father of
the Year among those named as candidates in America in
1999. First United Methodist Church of Winter Garden,
Florida named two of our fathers listed as national
winners, Mayor Jack Quesinberry and Mr. Robert Karney.
Also from the birthplace of Father’s Day, Spokane,
Washington, the Church of the Nazarene named a single
parent Dave Burkey as their Father of the Year. Below a
picture of two fathers named as the Father of the Year in
the Florida area are shown receiving their induction
awards from Dr. Jim Reeher. They were selected through a
promotional we offer local groups when they use our Father
and Child Banquet Kits. In our free Banquet Kits we offer
churches, synagogues, and scouting groups the basics for a
Father’s Day celebration. Our Banquet Kit offers an
activity sheet for children, banquet placemats, and parent
resource handouts. We also offer each organization a
free induction for the father they name as
Father of the Year.
(Banquet Kits are offered as long as supplies last. Allow
three weeks for delivery.)
Father’s
Hall of Fame® was recognized for it’s civic work
in helping sponsor a
children’s Halloween Contest and street party. Children
from Kindergarten through High School competing in a
Halloween Costume Contest organized by the Winter Garden
Recreational Department received cash and other gifts from
Father’s Hall of Fame®.
Talk
Radio Interviews took place
with several radio stations. One of the more exciting was
that conducted just before Father’s Day with CBS
Television and their Underground Website radio station in
Dallas, Texas. The interview was with
Online Report’s Judd Amstee. Onlinereport.com
featured our virtual museums as one of the top Internet
sites on the Worldwide Web during one of the broadcasts.
We also conducted a talk show interview with Radio Station
WWBA 1040 and WLVU 1470. These interviews focused on our
work with local schools, Boy Scouts of America, churches
and other civic organizations. We also had a discussion
on the merits of having a unique way to honor mothers and
fathers. We promoted our services as a resource for
parent training and family enrichment.
